What to Expect?
Complete this program to gain an instructor's license in barbering, cosmetology, nail technology, esthetics or natural hair styling. This course focuses solely on teaching methodology and preparation for the Instructor State Board Examination(s). Instructors Program requires 1500 Clock Hours or 650 Clock Hours with proof of 1 year salon or spa experience.
Complete this program to obtain an esthetician license (1000 clock hours) which covers makeup, lash application, skin care and hair removal or a manicurist waxer license (910 clock hours) which covers providing nail services on hand and feet as well as body hair removal.
This 12 week course meets requirements to sit for the written and practical state board exam if you failed to test within the 2 year period following completion of an esthetics or manicuring program or failure to pass within 3 attempts. Clock hours will be obtained in your chosen discipline and include state board prep.
This 12 week course prepares individuals to start a career in free lance makeup artistry.
This 9 month course prepares individuals to start a career in free lance makeup, brow and lash artistry.

This structured after-school program allows students to earn state-required training hours while completing high school — positioning them ahead of their peers before graduation.

Students complete the program in 18 months and become eligible to sit for the Alabama State Board Exam.

Who is eligible? High school students (ages 15–18) who are motivated and ready to pursue a career in beauty.
How long is the program? 18 months to completion.
Can I apply year-round? Yes. We accept applications at any time.

What happens when seats are full? Qualified applicants are placed on a priority waiting list.
Can I fundraise for fees? Absolutely! Students can host fundraisers or seek sponsorship to cover tuition or fees.
The ASCEND PREP Program was established to help students prepare mentally and financially to start school. Upon acceptance into ASCEND students may opt into immediate enrollment or be added to the waitlist to enroll within 4 months contingent upon student capacity and seats available. During this program students must complete the following steps:
1. Upon receipt of acceptance letter, review and sign the student enrollment agreement.
2. Schedule a "Discover + Explore Session" to establish your student dashboard and create a financial plan with our Student Success Coordinator.
3. Book initial counseling assessment with our school counselor, Tarica Hilman, here. You must select Tarica Hilman or submit a request via email for her to schedule you.
4. Complete the Ascend Prep Assessment here.
SOAR is a bridge program designed to catapult our students into fulfilling careers. The program requires students to select a specific niche, earning their first continued education certificate at ASCEND while continuing to gain hands-on experience through clinicals. The student journey concludes with an externship at a local salon or spa and job placement or business coaching for students seeking self-employment.
SOAR will continue to build partnerships with local and national beauty experts and brands to expose our students to every aspect of the cosmetology industry. With monthly affordable workshops featuring talented platform artists, inventors, salon owners and business professionals, our students are destined for a career full of professional growth and longevity.
The SOAR program has partnered with Regions Bank to offer financial literacy sessions that will help prepare our students for managing money. Students will learn about how to properly save and invest in their future. We will feature motivational speakers and consultants to speak to our students year-round ensuring that each student is able to find a niche to develop and enhance.
